Driver training is offered at discounted or subsidized rate.

TIARC has been assisting refugees to obtain their drivers licenses since 1997. Most of the refugees that have used this service are women who never drove a car in their native countries.

The training is provided by a professional Driving School, and it includes:

  • Traffic regulations related to pedestrians, bike riders, and drivers.
  • Basic vocabulary related to traffic and driving.
  • Basic car parts and how they function.
  • Driving Practice.
  • If the candidate successfully completes the training, the driving school issues the certificate good for obtaining a Drivers License from the Arizona Motor Vehicles Division MVD. No additional testing is required.

TIARC is able to offer Driver Training at discounted prices for all refugees and immigrants.
However, TIARC subsidizes part of the cost of the training for a small number of eligible refugees every year.
