Drivers Education and Safety Training
TIARC has been assisting refugees to obtain their drivers licenses since 1997. Most of the refugees that have used this service are women who never drove a car.
The training is provided by a professional Driving School, and it includes:
- Traffic regulations related to pedestrians, bike riders, and drivers.
- Basic vocabulary related to traffic and driving.
- Basic car parts and how they function.
- Driving Practice.
IMPORTANT UPDATE:
Effective October 22, 2012, the Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division will require State knowledge and/or skills examinations for driver license applicants who complete training at licensed Professional Driving School.
Certificate of Completion Form Number 96-0253 shall no longer be issued by Professional Driving Schools to individuals completing class D and class G training, and will not be accepted in MVD field offices or at Authorized Third Parties to waive examinations on or after October 22, 2012, regardless of the date issued.
For schedule of classes go to our calendar; for fees and/or other questions, please call (520) 881-4404.
