We are continuing our work ...
TIARC come a long way and this year, with
the generous help of volunteers and the Board we were able to upgrade our
offices. Everything was finally looking welcoming, fresh paint, newer chairs and
some decent lighting; sadly, Sunday night, 1/27/2013, the offices were vandalized. Windows
were smashed, doors kicked in and office furnishings overturned. Our
offices are located in a small complex on Grant Rd and only our offices were
targeted. The other two businesses were left untouched.
Monday morning we were heartened to see the efforts of our refugee
clients as they picked up the glass, covered the open windows with plastic and
proceeded to hold an English class. In an effort to restore the dignity to our
operation, to remind people that Tucson cares about our refugee population, we
are holding a fundraiser:
VIOLINS AGAINST VANDALS
When: Thursday, January 31
5:30-8PM
Where: 4224 E Grant Rd.
TIARC's Courtyard
There will be a violin recital by a Syrian refugee couple, wine and light refreshments will be served. We will ask that you pitch in $5 to $10 to help us restore TIARC.
